Your Apple Watch, in a pocket

Enough phone.

Calls, texts, pay, maps, music. No feed. Fob holds your Apple Watch like a pocket watch, so the phone that can reach you is one you can't fall into.

Fits every Apple Watch since Series 4 · charges in the case · ships assembled

The Fob case with an Apple Watch inside, resting in an open palm
A day with less phone

Reachable. Not reachable-into.

The watch already does the parts of a phone you actually need. Taking it off the wrist and putting it in a pocket is the part nobody tried.

Morning

Face down on the desk. It charges through the back, it still rings, and there is nothing to pick up and check.

Out

Pay at the counter, take the directions, play the album. All from a pocket, none of it followed by twenty minutes you didn't plan.

Evening

Calls and texts still find you. The people who need you get through. The feeds that want you don't.

Honest list

What still works. What doesn't.

You are deciding whether you can live with this, so here is the whole picture. A cellular watch does all of the left column with the iPhone at home; a GPS watch does it with the iPhone nearby.

Works from the watch

  • Calls Make and take them, speaker or AirPods. Voicemail too.
  • Texts iMessage and SMS. Dictate, scribble, or pick a reply.
  • Pay Apple Pay, transit cards, boarding passes, keys in Wallet.
  • Maps Turn by turn, walking, driving, transit.
  • Music Apple Music, Spotify, podcasts, audiobooks, to AirPods.
  • Siri Timers, reminders, messages, questions, HomeKit.
  • Find My Your people, your things, and the phone you left at home.
  • Camera Remote shutter and preview for the iPhone, when it's near.

Doesn't, and that's the point

  • Feeds Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit, YouTube: not on the watch, or notifications only.
  • Photos No camera on the watch. You'll look at the thing instead.
  • Long typing A sentence is fine. An email is for later.
  • The browser Links open in a reader view. You won't stay long.
  • Mindless checking The screen is in a pocket. Checking it is a decision.
The object

Made to be held, not worn.

Four inches tall whatever the watch, so it sits in a hand like a small phone and clips to a bag like a tool. Two plates, six screws, a loop of cord.

Each size is cut from Apple's own dimensional drawing for that watch body, so the cradle follows the real curve of the case and the front lip lands on the metal shoulder, never the glass.

Before you decide

The questions people ask.

Can an Apple Watch really stand in for my phone?

For the basics, yes. A cellular watch makes and takes calls, does iMessage and SMS, Apple Pay, Maps, Music and Siri with the iPhone left at home. A GPS-only watch does the same while the iPhone is within Bluetooth range or on the same Wi-Fi. What it can't do is hold a feed.

Do I have to take the band off?

Yes. Fob holds the bare watch body. Press the band release buttons, slide the band out, drop the watch in, screw the face on. It goes back on the wrist in five minutes when you want it there.

Does it charge inside the case?

Yes. The opening in the back clears the sensor dome and Apple's charging puck. Set it face down on the puck and walk away.

What happens to battery life off the wrist?

Turn off Wrist Detection in the Watch app (Passcode, then Wrist Detection). The watch stops looking for a pulse and lasts noticeably longer. You unlock it with the passcode, like a phone.

Does the phone at home still get my messages?

Yes. iMessage, calls and notifications arrive on every device on your account. When you pick the iPhone up again, nothing is missing.

Will the case touch the screen?

No. The front lip rides on the metal shoulder of the watch, outside the glass edge, following Apple's accessory guideline that a case must not contact the cover glass.

Is it waterproof?

No. The case is open at the sides and the back; the watch keeps its own water resistance, the case just carries it.
